KUZNETSICKY, GOOD BASSEIN, Kuzbas, is one of the largest CCCP and the world coal basins, the second after the Donetsk basin CCCP. Most of the basin is within the Kemero region, a small part in the Novosibir region of RSFSR.
General. Area 26, 7,000 km2, largest length 335 km, width 110 km. The black coal basin occupies an extensive west (Kotlovin) limited to the north-east by the Kuznetska Alataou mountains, south by the rises of Mount Shoria, south-west of the Salairian knive. The Kuznetska Valin (Hotlows) is erosive, watershed marks are gradually decreasing north of 550-600 to 200-250 m. The surface of the basin is gradual and logistic; the eastern and southern mountain margins are covered by taigos. The river network is part of the Obus River system. Main rivers: Tom, Ina, Chumša and Yaya. Large industrial and cultural centres: the cities of Kemerovo, Novokuznetsk, Prokopyevsk, Leningsk-Kuznetski. Over the years of Soviet power, the black coal basin has become the largest centre of the heavy industry. In addition to the coal industry, there are numerous black, non-ferrous metal industries, chemistry, energy and engineering.
The total geological reserves of the basin (1979) to the depth of 1,800 metres are estimated to be 637 billion tons, of which 548 billion tonnes correspond to the parameters of the capacity of the coal and the coal salts adopted by the conditions for the industrial fields. The carbon balance of the black coal basin, calculated mainly to the depth of 600 m (1985), is 110, 8 billion tonnes, of which the sum of A+B+C1 categories is approximately 67 billion tonnes previously estimated (category C2) 44, 0 billion tonnes. For coke coal reserves, the black coal basin is the largest in CCCP. Coxy coals account for 42, 8 billion tons, of which there are deficit marks J, K, OC 25, 4 billion tons. For open-source coal reserves, Kuzbass ranks 2nd in CCCP after the Cansco-Achin Basin as a degree of industrial development. Rediscovered open-ended stocks are estimated at 11.4 billion tons, including coke deficit marks of SC, K, OC 1, 8 billion tons.
