"The historical, cultural and natural climatic specificity of this zone will allow for the provision of various tourist products in different combinations," he thinks Oleg Safonov.

SANKT-PETERBOURG, 18 June. / TAS/. Artactic tourism in the Russian north can yield as much income as mining in the future, is considered by Oleg Safonov, head of the Federal Tourism Agency. He reported this at an international cooperation conference in the Arctic within the framework of the MIPF.

"Arctic tourism should be a major industry in the Russian north. It can be comparable by income with Mining"I said Chief Rosturism.

"The historical, cultural and natural climatic specificity of this zone will make it possible to provide various tourist products in different combinations," he thinks the Safons. In addition, in his view, there are excellent prerequisites for the development of the Territory, the construction of new tourist infrastructures.

In the Russian Arctic, tourists can be offered exotic recreation with reindeer and dog races, sports, extreme tourism, environmental tours, animal surveillance in their natural habitats. The great interest of modern travelers, according to the Chief of Rosturism, can lead to the traditional welfare, holidays and rituals of the indigenous peoples of the Far North.

The prospectiveness of Arctic tourism, as noted by the Safons, can be judged by international experience and the Russian pilot project on French Joseph ' s Earth. The total number of tourists is still small, but interest in this tour is growing. In 2014, 790 tourists were visited by the archipelago, and in 2015 some 1,300 out of 46 countries.

"It's a very expensive tour, but it's popular. There is a need to develop a proposal in this area, which is considered by the leader of Rosturism. According to him, the Territory ' s tourist destination capacity was around 80,000 per year, but a number of problems in transport and border crossing must be addressed to meet that target.
